چکیده

Because of its simplicity and intuitive approach, pointbased rendering has been a very popular research area. Recent approaches have focused on hardware-accelerated techniques. By applying a deferred shading scheme, both high-quality images and high-performance rendering have been achieved. However, previous methods showed problems related to depth-based visibility computation. We propose an extended pointbased rendering method using a visibility map. In our method we employ a distance-based visibility technique (replacing depth-based visibility), an averaged position map and an adaptive fragment processing scheme, resulting in more accurate and improved image quality, as well as improved rendering performance. key words: display algorithms, point-based rendering, deferred shading, hardware accelerated graphics

Two-Dimensional Beam Tracing from Visibility Diagrams for Real-Time Acoustic Rendering

We present an extension of the fast beam-tracing method presented in the work of Antonacci et al. (2008) for the simulation of acoustic propagation in reverberant environments that accounts for diffraction and diffusion. More specifically, we show how visibility maps are suitable for modeling propagation phenomena more complex than specular reflections. We also show how the beam-tree lookup for...

Many-Lights Real Time Global Illumination Using Sparse Voxel Octree

The many-lights real time Global Illumination (GI) algorithm is promising but requires many shadow maps to be generated for Virtual Point Light (VPL) visibility tests, which reduces its efficiency. Prior solutions restrict either the number or accuracy of shadow map updates, which may lower the accuracy of indirect illumination or prevent the rendering of fully dynamic scenes. In this paper, we...

Real-time Indirect Illumination with Clustered Visibility

Visibility computation is often the bottleneck when rendering indirect illumination. However, recent methods based on instant radiosity have demonstrated that accurate visibility is not required for indirect illumination. To exploit this insight, we cluster a large number of virtual point lights – which represent the indirect illumination when using instant radiosity – into a small number of vi...

Occlusion Handling using Semantic Segmentation and Visibility-Based Rendering for Mixed Reality

Real-time occlusion handling is a major problem in outdoor mixed reality system because it requires great computational cost mainly due to the complexity of the scene. Using only segmentation, it is dicult to accurately render a virtual object occluded by complex objects such as trees, bushes etc. In this paper, we propose a novel occlusion handling method for real-time, outdoor, and omnidirec...

Real-time Rendering of Massive Unstructured Raw Point Clouds using Screen-space Operators

Nowadays, 3D acquisition devices allow us to capture the geometry of huge Cultural Heritage (CH) sites, historical buildings and urban environments. We present a scalable real-time method to render this kind of models without requiring lengthy preprocessing. The method does not make any assumptions about sampling density or availability of normal vectors for the points. On a frame-by-frame basi...
